Dotdigital Integration Guide

Overview

The Litecard and Dotdigital integration helps send personalised emails when someone signs up through Litecard. It keeps contact details in Dotdigital up to date and automatically sends a campaign email with the wallet link and customer name.

This integration makes it easy to:

• Keep customer records accurate
• Send wallet invitations right after signup

Dotdigital: Dotdigital is a marketing automation platform that helps businesses engage customers through email, SMS, and other channels. It connects with eCommerce and CRM systems, enabling personalised campaigns, automation journeys, and data-driven insights to improve customer engagement and loyalty.

Litecard: Litecard is a wallet-led marketing platform that lets brands digitise their loyalty cards, vouchers, and offers directly into Apple Wallet and Google Wallet. It helps retailers and partners drive customer engagement with personalised updates, push notifications, and seamless in-store or online redemption, without the need for a standalone app.

Although Dotdigital allows sending campaigns to new contacts without pre-adding them, we recommend updating contact data first for:

1. Integration Flow: Litecard + Dotdigital

Integration with Dotdigital and Litecard Templates follows a simple three-step process, once the preconditions are set.

1.1 Preconditions #

Litecard uses email as the unique identifier to map contacts with Dotdigital. Before connecting the template:

• Create an API user in the Dotdigital portal
• Create a Triggered Email Campaign in Dotdigital
  • This campaign must include placeholder values such as:
  • APPLE_PASS_LINK
  • GOOGLE_PASS_LINK
  • DOWNLOAD_LINK
    NAME
• Create a Pass Template in Litecard

Go to View Pass Templates in Litecard and click the Plugin icon next to the template you want to integrate with Dotdigital.

1.2 Integration Steps #

Step 1: Validate API Credentials

Enter the API Username and API Password from Dotdigital, then click Validate.

If successful, you progress to selecting a Triggered Email Campaign.

Step 2: Select Triggered Campaign

Choose a campaign from the list of Triggered Campaigns fetched from Dotdigital.

Click Next.

Step 3: Configure Field Mapping & Sync Rule

Left Section:

• Shows placeholder names from the Dotdigital email template

• Map each placeholder to the matching Litecard pass data field

Right Section:

• Toggle button: Update contact data fields

This toggle option is completely optional, since Dotdigital can still deliver triggered emails even when a contact does not already exist in their system. When enabled, Litecard will automatically create contacts in Dotdigital if they are new, or update the data fields for any existing contacts to ensure the latest pass information is available.

Finally: Enable the “Enable Integration” toggle to activate Dotdigital sending for the template.

1.3 Summary #

Whenever a pass is created from the integrated template:

1. Litecard updates or creates the contact in Dotdigital (if “Update Contact Data Fields” enabled)
2. Dotdigital immediately sends a Triggered Campaign Email
3. The user receives a digital wallet pass invitation
4. They download and enjoy their pass
