Overview #
Litecard integrates directly with Retail Directions PoS to enable loyalty cards, coupons, and digital membership passes using Apple Wallet, Google Wallet, and mobile barcodes or NFC. Customers can scan their pass at checkout using the same barcode scanner or iPad that scans physical items, no extra hardware or app required.

This guide outlines how to:
- Create wallet passes via CRM signup journeys
- Automatically sync to Retail Directions as members
- Identify customers at PoS by scanning their mobile wallet pass
- Track sales linked to members for loyalty or reporting
- Integrate with eCommerce or subscription platforms
Use Cases
- Loyalty programs with in-store and online redemption
- VIP memberships with scannable rewards or discounts
- Coupons tied to CRM campaigns
- Subscription validation at checkout
- Real-time member lookup and tagging via mobile pass
Step 1: Create Members via CRM Signup Journey
When a customer signs up through:
- Website form (you most likely already have this running)
- Subscription purchase
- Campaign landing page
- Loyalty email or SMS flow
You can automatically:
- Call the Litecard API to generate a mobile wallet pass
- Call the Retail Directions API (or use middleware) to create or sync the member
- Assign a barcode, QR code, or NFC identifier as their customer/member ID
Example Litecard API Payload #
POST /api/v1/card
{
“templateId”: “your-template-id”,
“cardPayload”: {
“email”: “maria@example.com”,
“firstName”: “Maria”,
“loyaltyId”: “RD-54321”,
“tier”: “Gold”
}
}
Result: #
- Customer receives a branded pass with a barcode/QR/NFC ID
- Member ID matches what’s stored in Retail Directions
- The pass can be scanned in-store to identify them
This can be done across a CDP or CRM such as Klaviyo, Dotdigital, Salesforce, D365, and so on.
Step 2: Sync Member Info to Retail Directions
Odds are that you already sync member information online and offline into RD if you are using them as your ERP/PoS. Litecard will feed into your journey between systems, without you having to do too much different. Your CRM or middleware can use:
- Retail Directions REST APIs
- CSV uploads to member DB
- Direct database sync (for large retailers)
Ensure:
- Member ID from Litecard = Member ID in Retail Directions
- This ID is encoded into the wallet pass barcode or QR code
You can also update Retail Directions with:
- First/last name
- Email address
- Membership tier
- Offer entitlements or tags
Step 3: Scan Mobile Wallet Pass at the PoS
At checkout:
- Customer opens their Apple or Google Wallet pass
- The barcode, QR code, or NFC value on the pass represents their member ID
- Staff scan it using the same barcode scanner or iPad camera used for product SKUs
- Retail Directions identifies the customer and attaches them to the sale
Scanning Options: #
- Barcode / QR: Use existing 1D/2D scanners
- iPad / Tablet: Use integrated camera scan
- NFC (Optional): Use tap-to-detect on NFC-enabled checkout (if available)
This triggers:
- Loyalty point accumulation
- Tier upgrades
- Coupon redemption
- Access to exclusive offers at checkout
Step 4: Automate Offers, Coupons, and Points
Litecard passes can:
- Include tier or point balance
- Carry one-time or multi-use coupon barcodes
- Automatically expire, refresh, or trigger push notifications
These values can be:
- Synced from CRM to Litecard
- Sent to Retail Directions for validation
- Reflected in customer receipts or staff screens
Step 5: Use CRM and Analytics to Close the Loop
Since each scan ties back to the Litecard member ID:
- You can track redemption, store visits, AOV, and ROI
- Trigger post-purchase emails or re-engagement flows
- Update wallet pass (e.g. new tier, offer status) via API
- Use webhook events (CARD_DOWNLOAD, CARD_REMOVE, etc.) to enrich CRM
