Salesforce Integration Guide

Overview #

Litecard integrates with Salesforce to help you deliver mobile wallet passes, such as loyalty cards, digital coupons, and membership programs, to customers via Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC) or directly from your Salesforce CRM. These Apple Wallet and Google Wallet passes are personalised, scannable, and dynamic – staying up-to-date as customer data changes.

Using Salesforce’s open APIs, Litecard creates passes when a customer is added or updated. You can embed these passes in emails, journeys, or Salesforce data flows. L’Oreal uses Litecard across their Salesforce marketing stack for a number of their brands globally, automating how the brand interacts with customers, increasing purchase frequency and CRM performance.

What You Can Do With Litecard + Salesforce

  • Create Apple & Google Wallet passes for new customers
  • Send wallet download links via SFMC journeys or transactional emails
  • Use Salesforce Contact ID, Email, or External ID as the wallet pass identifier
  • Trigger wallet updates when customer data changes (tier, name, expiry, etc.)
  • Track wallet downloads, deletions, and re-send passes automatically
  • Integrate with loyalty platforms, PoS, and eCommerce via Salesforce 360

Step 1: Configure Unique Identifier in Salesforce

To track each customer and associate them with a wallet pass, choose one of:

  • Contact ID or Lead ID (if using CRM)
  • SubscriberKey (if using Marketing Cloud)
  • Custom External ID field (e.g. Wallet_ID__c)

This identifier will be sent to Litecard to generate or update passes.

Step 2: Use Salesforce Flow or Apex to Trigger Wallet Pass Creation

When a customer is created in Salesforce, trigger an API call to Litecard to create their wallet pass.

You can use:

  • Salesforce Flow with HTTP callouts
  • Apex class with a POST request
  • Marketing Cloud Journey Builder with an external API step
  • MuleSoft or middleware layer if preferred

Sample API Call to Litecard #

POST /api/v1/card

{

  “templateId”: “your-template-id”,

  “cardPayload”: {

    “email”: “taylor@example.com”,

    “firstName”: “Taylor”,

    “loyaltyId”: “SF123456”,

    “tier”: “Gold”

  }

}

Litecard Response #

{

  “cardId”: “abc789”,

  “downloadLink”: “https://litecard.io/pass/abc789”,

  “applePassLink”: “https://litecard.io/apple/abc789”,

  “googlePassLink”: “https://litecard.io/google/abc789”,

  “qrCodeUrl”: “https://litecard.io/qr/abc789.png”

}

Step 3: Store Wallet Links in Salesforce

After receiving the API response, write the wallet data into the customer record in Salesforce:

For CRM (Sales Cloud):

  • Add custom fields: Wallet_Download_URL__c, Apple_Wallet_Link__c, QR_Code__c

For Marketing Cloud (SFMC):

  • Store values in Data Extensions or use Attribute Groups in Contact Builder
  • Update fields via SSJS, REST API, or AMPscript

Step 4: Embed Wallet Links in Salesforce Marketing Cloud Emails

Use AMPscript or Dynamic Content Blocks to personalise emails with wallet links:

Example Button: #

<a href=”%%=AttributeValue(‘Wallet_Download_URL’)=%%” style=”…”>Add to Wallet</a>

Optional: Add QR Code #

<img src=”%%=AttributeValue(‘QR_Code’)=%%” alt=”Scan to download wallet pass” />

You can use Journey Builder to:

  • Send the pass after sign-up
  • Trigger pass re-send based on behaviour
  • Add logic based on loyalty tier or subscription status

Step 5: Update Wallet Pass When Customer Changes

When a customer’s name, tier, expiry, or contact info changes, use a Flow, Apex trigger, or middleware automation to call Litecard’s PATCH API:

PATCH /api/v1/card

{

  “cardId”: “abc789”,

  “cardPayload”: {

    “firstName”: “Taylor”,

    “tier”: “Platinum”,

    “subscriptionStatus”: “expired”

  }

}

The pass is updated in real time, no re-download needed.

Step 6: Track Wallet Engagement with Webhooks

Litecard sends webhook events that you can feed back into Salesforce:

  • CARD_CREATE – Pass generated
  • CARD_DOWNLOAD – User added pass to wallet
  • CARD_REMOVE – User deleted the pass
  • CARD_UPDATE – Pass content changed

Use these events to:

  • Trigger Journey Builder messages
  • Log wallet activity on Contact records
  • Re-send the wallet pass if deleted
  • Measure engagement across segments

Use Cases

  • Loyalty Programs: Issue wallet passes when a customer reaches a tier
  • Membership Cards: Send passes when subscription starts or renews
  • Coupons: Trigger wallet-based offers via Journey Builder
  • Reactivation: Detect if pass was removed and re-engage
  • Paid Access: Combine Stripe + Salesforce to issue VIP passes with expiry logic

Note how Mars uses Litecard’s API to create mobile wallet passes when customers are eligible for an offer at a local grocer or retail partner:
